*Dude! I typed this all up yesterday afternoon… was waiting for the file to upload and then I was going to post the entry. Well, I forgot. So here it is…
I apologize for the delay in getting this posted. I went back to work this week… well not back to where I was laid off from, but back to some familiar ground. John and I did alot of talking last week and I’m now working part of his shifts at Pizza Hut… well I guess they aren’t his shifts anymore, they are mine. Hoping this keeps him from getting too stressed to focus at school… and also gives him a chance to spend some time with the boys. Corgen always tells me he wants to see Daddy more, so now he gets to do that. Maybe we’ll be able to clock a few more hours than John had been able to on his own. But I haven’t really been home to work on the computer for 2 days so I’m a bit behind schedule on my plans for this week. Anyway… I’m going to put the freebies here before I finish my post as there’s some things i will probably say that most people don’t want to read so i’ll go ahead and give most of you what you came here for.
I’ve had 2 people comment to Divine Digital that they thought my “Operation: Save Christmas” promos are tacky… since so many other people are in the same boat I am with the current state of the economy. If I have offended anyone, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean or think I was doing something that would offend people, I’m just really desperate right now. And it’s not like i’m asking for a handout, I’m offering my products at an incredible discount to try and generate enough sales to pay a few bills (like rent) and put a few presents under the tree. Now I find myself wanting to type things here on my blog that are running through my head and wondering if since I am a designer, If i just need to keep all of my personal life to myself and out of the public eye since it might been seen as tacky or underhanded to just boost my sales… Why can’t I just talk? Well, I’m going to talk anyway cause this is my blog and if you don’t like me, then don’t read my blog. I did go ahead and pick up a few presents to put under the tree. Corgen is in kindergarten this year and they’ve all been talking about Santa & Christmas at school… and he wasn’t a bad kid, so I couldn’t imagine having to try and explain why Santa didn’t bring him anything. He knows we’re broke right now, so i don’t think it will be too disapointing for him not to get alot from me & daddy. I’m constantly amazed at how much he’s grown up in the las few months. School was definately a good thing for him & he was ready for it.
Well, It’s time for me to go pick Corgen up from school. Hope everyone is having a great day!
When I try to download the freebie, I get a message that says it is not found. Am I doing something wrong? I also wanted to tell you that I understand completely your situation. I’ve been struggling financially myself. If people think what you’re doing is tacky, that’s their problem. They are getting an incredible value if they buy your store. I was wishing that I could afford to help you out by at least purchasing what Cyndi has, but I just don’t have the money. I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
(((((hugs))))) Laura some people are just beyond mean. If they can’t say anything nice they should keep their mouths shut, thank you for the papers they are really cool. Hope you are still able to have a nice family christmas. Hugs Crystal xx
laura, thank you for yet another lovely & generous gift. Don’t let the pigs bother you. If you had had a “buy my store because I want a new computer” sale, they wouldn’t have thought it was tacky. they are bothered because they don’t want to feel any empathy for someone who is having a rough time. I’ve been there. I’m sure you hated asking for help as much as I did and shame on the pigs for making you feel even worse.
Nice papers, thanks so much. And hang in there! 🙂
Ditto cyn. As I was reading your post, I was thinking, who cares what TWO people out of the hundreds of us think in this great big digi world. This is your blog, and they don’t have to read it if they don’t want to!!
I think it’s terrible when someone leaves a mean comment on your blog. I moderate my comments so they don’t leak out there, but I just think it stinks. Your posts are NOT tacky. My husband and I are at exactly the same place as you – we just moved, he just started a new job, we’re BARELY paying the bills. $5 in the checking account. My son is not quite two and will be getting VERY LITTLE for Christmas. You are NOT being tacky, you are trying to give your family a nice Christmas and anyone who doesn’t WANT to help doesn’t have to!! Don’t listen to the Scrooges. My favorite blogs are the ones where designers share themselves, not just their work. Keep on keepin’ on.
dont listen to the meanies. i totally get the whole brokeness thing, I saw your savings and really wanted to join in and I couldnt cause i lost my job and i have been returning bottles to eat. sigh . brokeness sucks. hope you and your fanily have a blessed xmas; hugs:O)
Laura
I know yours and Cyndi’s hearts and I know that they both were in the right place and meant nothing more than to be giving and gracious. At this time of the year I think we all need to have more understanding and promote peace and tranquility not strife. May God bless you and your family and also Cyndi and her family with love, peace and tranquility this Christmas. Our God is a gracious and loving God and I think he expects us to be the same!!
Merry Christmas
Lynn

Hon, pay no mind to small-minded jerks. There is ALWAYS someone who will complain because they have nothing better to do. Hope things get better and that the boys (and you two) have an AWESOME Christmas despite the current situation. [[[hugs]]]
I’ll have to remember to stop back and grab the papers after I get home from work. They look gorgeous as always! 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful papers even while going through a very rough time!! Please ignore the bad comments – there is no way that it is tacky to offer your store for a steal! You are being very generous in your offer and what are friends for if not to have a shoulder to cry on?? Hope your new job works out great for you and the new year is nothing but up!! Hugs!!!!!!
Thanks for the freebie… it is appreciated.
Your son is rather young so he would be happy with most anything Santa brings him.
Some suggestions:
1) Buy at places like The Dollar Tree where everything is $1.
2) Yard sales
3) Thrift stores like Goodwill
4) Maybe some family members or friends have some slightly used or even new things they wanna recycle.
Wish I could help money wise, but I’m disabled & live in a household with 2 elderly people. So I definitely know where you are coming from.
I don’t think what you’re doing is in poor taste. Just MHO.
May your Christmas be merry & 2009 much better for you & yours.
Thanks for the pretty papers. Your save Christmas is a great idea. I purchased the one through Cyndi but haven’t has much cash either since my husband lost his job. If I can find a little extra lying about, I’ll be back to help out. Hugs.
These are gorgeous! Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely paper pack!!
I hope you do have a happy Christmas with your family!
Just ignore the mean comments – what ever happened to “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”??
It seems in this season of Peace and Goodwill that there are some really lacking in the charitable spirit.
It takes a lot of courage to ask for help when you really need it. Most of us find it so much easier to give than to receive. I appreciate the opportunity to help that you gave us as well as the great value on your products.
May God bless you and your family in a special way this Christmas Season!
PS: Thanks for the beautiful papers.
I don’t think it was tacky – it was real. I appreciate your honesty and I am thankful I could help out.
XXXOOO
Love ya lots!
Gee, I’m so sorry that people treated you that way… we’re in the same boat, and we didn’t do the Christmas tree this year at all… presents were small “necessaries” here, and I am trying to figure out if I can manage a New Year’s Eve present for me, here, by buying your store tonight… just to make sure you make it through January. My mom gave me $50 for Christmas, to help pay bills, but hubby says I should use it on me… we have movie on TV and popcorn for a cozy New Year’s Eve, just the two of us… an hour to go yet.
Hope you have had a lovely Christmas, anyway, and a happier new year! My dad died in October, he was an HVAC guy for years and years… a messy job sometimes, but steady work! Best wishes to you.
